On Saturday 27 June 2026 a ceremony took place in Halifax. The Canadian Army disbanded its 5th Division as daylight faded over the base parade ground. Senior officers, veterans and staff stood together. Colours were dipped. A plaque was unveiled to honor the unit’s legacy. A final bugle call sounded as the ceremony concluded.
Officials confirmed the change is included in a re‑organisation of Canada’s land forces. After years of service the 5th Division will be dissolved as its own formation.
