The Australian Education Union (AEU) Victorian Branch put a new pay and conditions offer to its members on Friday. The initial state government proposal of 28.3% was increased to push teachers to accept. The offer spans 2024 to 2027 and includes improved leave provisions. Union left faction leaders described the deal as insufficient. They dubbed it a 'stop-gap' and urged members to vote against. Further labour action remains planned despite the increased offer. The AEU will survey 33,000 public school teachers early next month. The authorities aimed to prevent strikes with the new offer.
