Former deputy prime minister Barnaby Joyce threw his weight behind her One Nation counterpart after she called for mass deportations, arguing her remarks were twisted by critics.
Joyce made the remarks during a broadcast chat earlier in recent weeks. He later had a go at a dog that appeared on set during the segment.
Hanson then made clear she would not back away from previous controversial statements. This followed a television network airing an interview between Hanson alongside far-right activist Tommy Robinson.
Joyce criticised the network of dramatic framing in its approach to the story.
