Famed creator Yayoi Kusama has passed away. She held her paintbrushes until right before she died. She experienced hallucinations as a young child. Kusama turned those youthful visions into famous art. Polka dots served as her main motif. They were featured in her many paintings and art pieces.
Kusama won the Praemium Imperiale award for her contributions in art. Her work was widely celebrated. One creation, the Red Pumpkin artwork, became a symbol of Naoshima island. She remained active until her death. She made art inspired by her early childhood experiences and her signature polka dots.
