Coles has quietly raised the price of its paper bags, drawing a wave of criticism from Australian shoppers online. Some customers have called the move "un-Australian", with frustration flooding social media platforms.

The price rise piles onto broader cost-of-living pressure on grocery shoppers. Woolworths also lifted the price of a budget staple around the same time, leaving many Australians doing it tough at the checkout.
