Travellers now exclusively use the Coquihalla Highway, avoiding the closure. The fire near Hope is burning northeast of the Coquihalla interchange, sending thick smoke. Smoke is thick and clearly to see, reducing visibility. A second blaze ignited south of Boston Bar on Tuesday. This second fire affects 300 hectares. It forced officials to close Highway 1 in the same area. Two key routes into southern BC are now impeded.
