Dame Judi Dench has publicly criticized Petco for alleged poor treatment of birds. The actor, known for her fondness for parrots, accused the retailer of getting birds from breeders who kept them in tight and unclean spaces. Dench called for an end to bird sales at Petco, citing PETA's exposure of animal cruelty in breeding facilities. The criticism comes as Dench has been vocal about her admiration for parrots and the humane treatment of animals.
