Tasmanian authorities have warned that the public is "loving Neil to death" and might lead to the euthanasia of the 1,000kg seal if people keep crowding the animal on the coast.
Local reports say Neil's rising popularity brings harmful behaviour, including knocking over kayaks and attacking jet skis, after reaching the coast and drawing hundreds of onlookers. Officials have pleaded with the public to stay away.
