Sony unveiled the new FX5 cinema-side debut on July 22, 2026. The camera unlocks a first-time full-frame sensor for filmmakers. It records 5K video with open-gate recording. Internal X-OCN RAW capture is now standard. Three base ISO settings cover everything from bright daylight to dark sets. The FX5 can also shoot 4K slow motion up to 240 fps when needed. According to Sony the FX5 is easier to handle and includes open-gate support right away. Early reviews highlight its strong performance while noting more tools will arrive down the line .
