The cast of The Rookie has said sorry for the abrupt cliffhanger ending to Season 8. Fans had been left waiting after the final scene dropped out. Creator Alexi Hawley confirmed at Comic-Con that Season 9's premiere will be longer than usual. Nathan Fillion announced that filming for Season Nine starts on August 5. Also, a first look of a new scene recorded on the Chenford set was put on the internet preceding the new season.
