Heat across Europe is now hitting forty in a plethora of cities. An alert was first issued in the lowlands when temps rose above seven-and-thirty, and officials have kept it in place through the weekend. In Dutch capital people are hanging curtains outside to keep the harsh sun out. The scorching weather is testing homes built for colder months.
The WHO say more than 1300 extra deaths have been linked to the heat across the region. Evening readings stay high, experts say. They urge residents to drink fluids, stay out of the sun at the worst times and find shade.
