A beluga whale was relocated from Marineland in Niagara Falls, Ontario to a Chicago aquarium. It died a short time later. The move took place before the death.

Marineland also transferred four dolphins and two belugas to an aquarium in Spain. Now the park no longer houses dolphins. Only belugas continue to reside there.
