Virgin Media O2 this week will close its 2G network as scheduled. The company’s chief technology officer, Jeanie York, made the statement.
The shutdown will touch older devices including certain smart meters as well as other meters and medical equipment. Virgin Media O2 states that indeed ending 2G will make room for faster 5G upgrades designed to enhance mobile services nationwide.
